Choosing Your Perfect Wedding Photographer
Tips on finding YOUR perfect wedding photographer
Finding the right wedding photographer for you and your wedding is not a “one size fits all”. You and your fiance are as unique as it comes! Your wedding is going to be beautiful all in its own way. You need to find a photographer that fits into your puzzle. Being a Bride or Groom that values photography and wanting the perfect wedding photographer by your side, this task can feel terrifing and daunting. After all, there are no do-overs. You’re going to get married once, and you only have one shot to pick a wedding photographer. You’re spending a lot of money, and you’re putting all your eggs in one basket without being able to see the final product in advance. Yikes! Scary!!
We try to put ourselves in our clients’ shoes when we are meeting with them to talk about their photography needs. We understand how stressful it can be to meet with a complete stranger and try to get an idea as to if they are the right photographer for you. In addition to this, we have heard FAR TOO MANY horror stories involving wedding photographers not delivering, and newlyweds being left disappointed or heartbroken.
So, from a photographer’s point of view, we thought we would share a few pointers on making this huge decision. We know it may seem that we are a little biased (Pick us! Pick Lovelee!) but we honestly believe that not every bride out there is right for us or more importantly us for them. So how do you find the perfect wedding photographer for you?
Three simple pieces of advice:
- Ask to view a COMPLETE wedding – start to finish Any photographer can show you a slideshow of their best 50 photos they’ve ever shot and you will be impressed. But that won’t give you a good sense for what your wedding photos will look like. You want to make sure they have good quality photos throughout the course of one entire wedding.
- Make sure you “feel something” when you view their photos. You are hiring an artist with a specific eye and heart. They curate their portfolio to communicate their personal photography style and point of view. You want to resonate with how they see and capture the world around them — specifically relationships. And if you “feel something” when you look through their portfolio at a bunch of strangers’ wedding photos, you are guaranteed to love your own photos all the more!
- Make sure you like them as a person. Whoever you pick to be your photographer is going to be around you and your family for many hours on the best day of your life. This is the only vendor the you will be around THE MOST! So you want to feel comfortable with them and most of all, be able to TRUST them.
If you choose a photographer based on the three points we mentioned above as more so than based on price, you will greatly increase your chances of being beyond pleased with your choice.
